Acting Boldly – Stepping Out of Our Comfort Zone to Do Extraordinary Things

—————————

“Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.”

– Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

If we want to achieve extraordinary things, we need to step out of our comfort zone.

comfort zone

In the game of pool, you cannot play safety for long and expect to win the game. Your opponent is always on the look to break the impasse and get ahead to sink the ball. Likewise, in the game of life, we cannot remain in the safety of our comfort zone and expect to live an epic and exciting life that we dreamed of.

Boldness is an act of courage with confidence to do something extraordinary, viewed by others as daring. Extraordinary means that it’s never been done before like proposing to start a new business unit, or only those with courage can do like putting an unpopular idea to the table. Bold people can act with courage because they are confident in their abilities. They are not afraid of the unknown because they have already calculated the risks, and they have the sense of accountability for the possible negative outcomes.

“A tiger doesn’t lose sleep over the opinion of sheep.”

Bold people can easily speak their minds. They are not afraid of other people’s criticisms because they believe in their inner convictions. They are not inhibited by popular opinions nor prevented by limits imposed by society. They have indomitable integrity because they act what they think and feel.

Being bold does not mean we become rude, reckless, insensitive, arrogant to other people. Bold people understand ethical and moral accountability.

Boldness is a habit and not an inborn trait. People get bolder as they pile up small wins. They have a winning mindset, and they know how to celebrate life’s winning moments. Everything they do is a demonstration of excellence born out of dedication and discipline. They strive and persevere to make things work out according to planned outcome by not quitting, by persevering til they get what they wanted.

Bold people do not procrastinate, they are decisive. They sense the opportunity at the moment, and they  understand that it vanishes as soon as it appears. The time to act boldly is now, not tomorrow.

“People who make no mistakes lack boldness and the spirit of adventure. They are the brakes on the wheels of progress.” – Dale Turner

To be bold in what we do is one of the keys in getting what we want to accomplish. Each day, I commit to live an epic life, to act with boldness and audacity in whatever I do. How about you?
